This grant is funded and administered by Sound NSW. 

The 2025-26 Venue Upgrade Grants – Advanced Screen & Lighting Technology (‘the Program’) a Venues Unlocked initiative, is an open, competitive round. 

This series of funding programs is designed to support NSW contemporary live music venues with varied experience in live music programming. It aims to increase the number of fit-for-purpose live music venues across the state, uplift sector knowledge and expertise, improve audience experience and generate greater live music diversity and vibrancy in communities. 

 

The Advanced Screen and Lighting Technology Grant supports dedicated live music venues to install high-end audiovisual systems and dynamic lighting effects designed to significantly enhance the audience experience. 

Advanced screen and lighting technology includes but is not limited to: 

  • LED video walls, projection, or mixed–reality screen systems 
  • Upgrades to intelligent lighting and control systems, AI-enhanced lighting 
  • Venue design and visual mapping works that align lighting and screen with performance zones including on–stage rigging 
  • high-end audiovisual systems that enhance audience experience through immersive visuals and live feed integration 

Applicants must co-contribute at least 30% of the overall project budget (this can include cash and in-kind contributions). In kind contributions can include any donated goods, services or volunteer work to support a project.  

Advanced Screen & Lighting Technology - Key information 

 Grant Type: open EOI process, competitive 

  • Grant amount: $200,000 - $500,000 (ex GST)   
  • Up to $200,000 (ex GST) for venues under 1000 capacity  
  • Up to $500,000 (ex GST) for venues over 1000 capacity  
  • Applications open: Friday 21 November 2025 
  • Applications close: Monday 2 February 2026
